CHT's calendar page lists upcoming scheduled sessions for its short courses — principally Responsible Service of Alcohol and the other one-day and two-day courses that run to a fixed timetable rather than by enrolment intake.

Session dates are live data and are not reproduced here. A mirrored page cannot carry a booking calendar accurately: dates fill, sessions are added, and a stale date is worse than no date. What this page can do is set out which courses run on a calendar, which do not, and what governs the timing of each.

Which courses run to a calendar

CHT's delivery splits into three patterns, and knowing which applies saves a wasted enquiry.

Pattern What it means Examples
Scheduled short courses Fixed dates, book a seat, usually one or two days RSA, RSG, barista and coffee courses, food handling, first aid, bartending
Online, self-paced Start any time, no calendar RSA online, virtual food handling
Qualifications Enrolment and intake based, not a single-session booking The Certificate III, Certificate IV and Diploma programs

So the calendar is essentially a short-course instrument. If you are looking at a full qualification, the relevant question is intake and enrolment, not a session date.

What actually constrains the dates

Some of CHT's scheduling is not a business preference but a regulatory consequence, which is useful to understand when a course seems to run less often than you would expect.

RSA is jurisdictionally split. There is no single national RSA. Victoria's regime is administered by Liquor Control Victoria, New South Wales by Liquor & Gaming NSW with its own competency card process, and Queensland, Western Australia and the other states each run their own arrangements — some with an approved-provider scheme and some without. A session that satisfies one state's requirement does not automatically satisfy another's. The RSA page sets out which regime applies where, and it matters more than the date does.

Food Safety Supervisor certification differs by state too. New South Wales issues its own FSS certificate through a separate process after the training, which adds a step and a wait that the training date alone does not capture. See food safety supervisor.

First aid has a currency cycle rather than an expiry. Refresher timing is driven by the currency expectation attached to the unit, not by a date on a certificate. See first aid.

Where to find current dates

The live calendar sits on CHT's own site at cht.edu.au/calendar. For a specific course, the individual course page carries its own booking route:

For qualifications, start at workplace training. To ask about a date that is not listed, use course enquiry or contact.

Common questions

Why are the dates not on this page?

Because they change. This is a mirrored page, and a session date copied here would be wrong within days. The live calendar is at cht.edu.au.

Do I need to book, or can I turn up?

Short courses are booked. Seat numbers are limited by the practical components — barista courses in particular are constrained by machine availability.

Is there an option if no date suits?

RSA and food handling both have online, self-paced versions with no fixed date. Check that the online version satisfies your state's requirement before enrolling — for RSA this is jurisdiction-specific.

Do you run courses in Sydney as well as Melbourne?

CHT operates from Level 3, 28 Elizabeth Street Melbourne and 410 Elizabeth Street, Surry Hills. What runs at each site varies; confirm with CHT.

Can you run a session for my venue?

That is a workplace training question rather than a calendar one. See work with us.
